Overview of PVC-U pipe performance
Compared with traditional pipes, PVC-U pipes have the following characteristics:
1) Light weight, convenient for transportation and installation. The specific gravity of PVC-U plastic pipe is slightly greater than 1, ranging from 1.35 to 1.46. The self-weight of the pipe is slightly greater than the buoyancy of the slurry, so it can be smoothly lowered into the well without requiring a large lifting force. This is safe, reliable, and reduces labor intensity. The handling of well casing is even more effortless and convenient.
2) Strong corrosion resistance and good durability. Plastic is a highly stable polymer that rarely reacts with chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and salts. In water that is not exposed to solar ultraviolet radiation, its service life is at least 50 years or more, making it suitable for use in wells with various water qualities. Especially with the widespread use of submersible electric pumps in recent years, the induced current generated in water accelerates the corrosion of traditional well casings, but plastic well casings are not affected by this.
3) Large single-piece length and fewer well casing joints. The length of plastic pipes is generally 6 meters, and they can also be customized according to requirements, greatly reducing the number of joints, saving time for lowering the pipes and joint materials. More importantly, it reduces the chances of scrapping wells due to misalignment and sand leakage caused by poor joints, and also avoids secondary pollution of the well casing to the inlet water.
4) Good water quality. Sanitary-grade PVC-U pipes are hygienic, non-toxic, do not breed bacteria, and do not pollute water quality.
5) The tubing is cheap, and the cost of well completion is low.
6) The inner wall is smooth, ensuring good hydraulic conditions. The friction coefficient is only 0.00008, resulting in low energy consumption.
7) Good flexibility and high impact resistance.
8) Wear resistance.
